Our Mission & Vision
Create and Foster Meaningful Connections
We strive to strengthen local businesses and enhance collaborative efforts by building upon current relationships and opening opportunities for new relationships.
Champion the Stakeholder Economy
We advocate for a business model that not only values, but also benefits all stakeholders while promoting sustainable and equitable practices throughout.
Increase the Impact of the B Corp Community
We help to empower local B Corps to amplify their social and environmental impact by sharing resources and knowledge, co-hosting gatherings, and participating in collective action.
Raise Awareness of
the B Corp Movement
We elevate the global B Corp movement's visibility locally in the Northern California/SF Bay Area by inspiring more businesses to join and commit to higher standards of purpose and accountability.
A Global Movement, Locally Grown.
We Are B Local Bay Area!
B Locals are place-based communities of people using business as a force for good. At the core of every B Local around the world, are Certified B Corporations, for-profit companies using the power of business to transform the global economy to benefit all people, communities of impact-driven leaders, and the planet.
Led by passionate volunteers, B Locals are just one of several networks that thrive within the B Corp ecosystem. B Local Leaders serve as shepherds of the B Corp community — often organizing community events, leading mission-aligned awareness initiatives, building meaningful partnerships, and providing educational opportunities for local companies and their people.
Fun fact: there are over 200 certified B Corp companies in just the Northern California/Bay Area — making our group the largest B Local in the US and Canadian region. Though B Corp organizations make up the majority of our B Local community, we strive to always foster an inclusive space of people that use business as a force for good.
B Local Bay Area is an independently run organization, led by a volunteer board that works closely with B Lab U.S. & Canada. B Local Bay Area is fiscally sponsored by Social Good Fund.
Geographic Scope & Land Acknowledgement
B Local Bay Area covers Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, and San Francisco Counties.
B Local Bay Area acknowledges that we live and work on the ancestral and occupied lands of Indigenous Peoples. The Lisjan (Ohlone) are the predominant Indigenous group of the Bay Area, including the Chochenyo and the Karkin in East Bay, the Ramaytush in San Francisco, the Yokuts in South Bay and Central Valley, and the Muwekma tribe throughout the region. Other Indigenous groups include the Graton Rancheria community (Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo), Kashaya, Patwin, and Mishewal Wappo in the North Bay, and the Bay Miwok in the East Bay.1
We must acknowledge and remember that the decisions we make and actions we take as business leaders affect Indigenous Peoples. We are committed to honoring the truth, improving our connections with local Indigenous communities and organizations, and justice for all.
